אז מה היה לנו?
למי ששואל למה אין תמונות – יש, אבל זה יעלה לכם 89$.
This is Cancun in 10 points.
1. One hotel, all included, 3 pools plus one for children plus one for turtles, one Caribbean beach, painted turquoise just for us, and thousands of golden grains of sand.
2. Dolphins. We were told you can go and pet a dolphin everywhere in Cancun. For a little extra you can even ride his nose or fang. For a little more than extra, you can kiss him. And for more than just a little, you can get the photos of all these moments to share at those with your friends. I am sorry I can’t show you how fun it was, to swim with dolphins. You will have to send me 89$ first 🤪
3. Sharks and manta-rays. Those, too, are free to pet and swim with, but not so free to get a picture with..
4. Yes, we swam with sharks and manta-rays and we are still very much in one piece to tell about it. No photos, though..
5. Snorkeling. Everywhere. At our hotel beach, at our neighbor-hotel beach, at the park, at a random beach, with a private boat, with a public boat. Where ever we went, people offered to take us snorkeling. And of course we went! The sea is warm and clear and the reef is beautiful and we all had an amazing experience, until a coral attacked Yael and we had to pee on her (we didn’t, though..).
6. We also snorkeled under the clear water in front Isla Mujeres to see more than 500 real-life concrete statues (the Musa Museum), made first by the English sculptor Jason de Caires Taylor, and put there in 2009. In fact, the Volkswagen beetle we did managed to see before the coral incident was truly magnificent. for more information, visit their site.
7. The girls spent 2 whole mornings at the kids’ club. They saw it as a new and pleasant experience, for it resembled going to school, which they know nothing about (being homeschooled etc.,). In the meantime, we spent these mornings with a 3yo (ours as well) who enjoyed the sand and having her parents just for her. It was an excellent time to catch up with (my) reading, (his) boredom and (ours) alcohol level. I particularly enjoyed the (included) strawberry daiquiri that kept coming.
8. We were sick. All of us. In fact, the guy in the gift shop was in shock that, coming the last day, we bought taquilla and nothing medicinal. We purchased syrup for coughing, creams for skin allergies and overstaying in the sun, pills for migraine and liquids for food poisoning (which I still claim to have been candy hangover). I can assure you, looking back, that spending our yearly vacation helping each other in his/her time of need is one of the best times spent as a family! It could be a bit exhausting, though, for sleep was hard (on him) when just next to a construction is being built (meaning me, trying to breath).
9. Xcaret park. Oh yeah. After a few days of doing nothing except being sick and getting burnt in the sun, this park was exactly what we needed! We saw a jaguar and a puma (not knowing which is what), tons of birds (including Guatemalan National bird, the quetzal), turtles, sharks, dolphins, manta-rays, monkeys and iguanas. We even saw one lizard who preferred walking on her hind legs, which was pretty cool.
10. We had so much family time, I would do it again without hesitation. No phones, no internet, no distractions. Just good food, cheap (included) alcohol, a lot of rest and sun. So much sun.
Now, I know I said I will do it again, but it is not likely to happen very soon. The man of the house asked for a more active vacation next time…

Until next time <3 kisses, Einat
